03Before every walk

Leather and hardware age with use. Check the buckle, D-ring and stitching before every walk. Stop using and replace the item as soon as you see cracking, deformation or loose stitching.

Not intended for tethering a dog that is left unattended.

Not a vehicle restraint. Securing a dog in a car requires a tested car safety-belt system; nothing sold here is designed or tested for that purpose.

Hides are legal by-products of food livestock. We do not sell CITES-listed species leather or real fur. Chromium VI is limited to ≤ 3 mg/kg and azo dyes to the REACH Annex XVII limits; metal fittings meet the REACH nickel release limit. Supplier declarations for the current batch are on file and can be requested by email.

Dyes and tanning agents are used in every leather article. Do not let a dog chew leather goods for extended periods.

06Care and natural variation

Re-oil the buckle end, which takes the most flex.

Grain, scars and shade vary from hide to hide, and the colour of a vegetable-tanned piece deepens with light and use. Two pieces ordered at different times will not match exactly. That is the material behaving normally, not a defect.

A plain 40 mm belt with two brass rings set on reinforced tabs at the hips, so a waist lead can run on either side and be swapped without unthreading.

Sized by waist measurement over clothing, in 5 cm steps from 75 to 110 cm. Say the measurement, not the trouser size.

Thick enough to hold its shape under a lead. It also works as an ordinary belt, which is how most people end up wearing it.
